CBD for ADHD
(Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)

Research on CBD for ADHD is very new, but there is promising evidence for it’s efficacy emerging from recent animal and human studies. Animal-based CBD research on ADHD has shown that the compound reduces hyperactivity in mice at a dosage of 30mg/kg bodyweight, which would be about 3000 milligrams for an average adult male (i.e. 400 milligrams per dose). Researchers believe this may happen by manipulating the catecholamine neurotransmitters in the mice’s brain.

A small study on CBD for ADHD, which was conducted at Connecticut College with a sample of 60 children aged between 12 and 18 years, found that CBD reduced impulsivity among those who had been diagnosed with ADHD by 50%.

However, these are just small trials, and the results need to be confirmed in larger studies.

As with most disorders, it is not clear how CBD interacts with ADHD patients on an individual basis, as there are many different causes for ADHD which have their own set of symptoms. So, research on CBD for ADHD is in its infancy. However, many parents of children with ADHD and adults suffering from ADHD are looking for holistic and sustainable relief. Could CBD be a viable approach? We explore the current science behind it, explain how one might take CBD for ADHD, and recommend some good products that may help you with this.
